about

I met Chuck "Roast" Freeman in the parking lot of Henry's in Hamilton trying to get another band together. Smash Pattern was born.
Smash Pattern was together for a year after the first Target's break-up in late 1983. We played a number of songs in the basement Scott's family home that would end up being recorded By Moving Targets and spread over the First three records. We began most practices with a case of Old Milwaukee and a box of frozen chicken patties and played until both were gone. We did a handful of shows but the lure of the Targets was too great and I left to rejoin them in The summer of 85. Chuck and I reunited two years later when he joined the Targets on bass and Scott went on to a career with the FBI.
